Text or Zoning Amendment Request Procedure
The procedure for requesting an Ordinance Text or Zoning Amendment begins with the completion of the Text or Zoning Amendment Application. Please contact the Planning and Inspection Department to discuss your situation and to obtain the necessary application.

Once the application is completed, the Building Inspector will review the request and determine if the Planning Board must review the request prior to it being forwarded to the Town Council.

If an Ordinance Zoning Amendment is requested, the Planning Board must review the request and determine compliance with the Land Use Plan and any other Town Ordinances or plans applicable. The Planning Board will then make a recommendation to the Town Council. The Town Council will review the request and set a public hearing to allow public comments concerning the request. Once the public hearing is held, the Council will render its decision.

If an Ordinance Text Amendment that is not in the Land Use Section is requested, the application is submitted directly to the Town Council. Upon review, the Council will either schedule a public hearing to allow public comments concerning the request prior to rendering a decision or the Council can render a decision without holding a public hearing.
